Surat : Police in the Rander area of Surat successfully posed as Muslims to arrest a couple suspected of being engaged in drug trafficking, marking a major victory in the city’s continuing fight against illegal drug activity.

Undercover cops kept a tight eye on Sameer Munaf Malik and Sania Sameer Malik for many days before making an arrest. The operation was conducted as part of the “No Drugs in Surat City” initiative launched by the police department in an effort to reduce the prevalence of the drug trade in Surat.

Several undercover police officers were posted near the Taj Apartment in Rander town to keep an eye on Sameer Munaf Malik and Sania Sameer Malik. Mephedrone is a white powder with a street value of around $2,700 per gramme, and it was discovered that the pair was constantly meeting with various people and providing them with the substance.

The Rander police acted fast on a reliable tip to arrest the accused couple. During the operation, authorities were able to seize 20.36 grammes of mephedrone from the pair, which is a sizable amount. The effective operation demonstrated the commitment of law enforcement to combating the city’s drug issue.

The couple’s claimed intention to provide narcotics in the Ramnagar neighbourhood of Rander was central to the operation’s modus operandi. In order to keep an eye on the accused couple without raising suspicion, cops posed as Muslims. Once the suspects arrived, the police were able to identify them and follow them to their home without raising suspicion.

The cops did not stop with only the narcotics; they also took the couple’s motorbike and several mobile phones. The investigation into the couple’s suspected drug trafficking will likely rely heavily on the evidence seized in this manner.

Police sources have revealed that Sameer Munaf Malik and his wife, Sania Sameer Malik, ran a narcotics distribution ring out of Rander town for quite some time. Authorities in the area are understandably worried that narcotics were sold to residents of the community.

Both suspects have been taken into jail, and investigators are questioning them to learn more about the narcotics operation’s origins and scope.
