Surat : New civil hospital prepares for Navratri heart attack emergencies

Surat : In a proactive measure to address the rising number of heart attack cases in Surat during the Navratri festival, the New Civil Hospital (NCH) has taken a significant step by deploying additional medical staff, including doctors, to handle emergency cases. This decision aims to ensure the safety and well-being of participants in the upcoming festive season.

Surat has experienced a surge in heart attack incidents, prompting the authorities at NCH to put a plan in motion. Medical teams have been meticulously selected and trained to deliver on-the-spot emergency medical services at the bustling garba venues across the city. The Navratri festival is known for its spirited celebrations and exuberant dancing, and with the increased exertion, the risk of heart-related incidents can rise.

The civil hospital system, situated at Majuragate, has also made elaborate preparations to cater to the medical needs of the public during the ten days of Navratri. Additional staff will be stationed at night during this period, comprising both medical and nursing personnel. A dedicated team has been formed within the NCH to manage the healthcare aspects of the Navratri festival. This team consists of a senior resident doctor, two resident doctors, ECG staff, and paramedics.

Heart attacks have become a matter of concern not only in Surat but across the country, with several unfortunate cases reported recently. Just a few days ago, a young individual from Palanpore tragically passed away while practicing garba. Such incidents have occurred in various cities throughout the state, prompting the NCH to take proactive measures to safeguard the health of the public during the forthcoming Navratri festival.

The medical superintendent of NCH, highlighting the hospital’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of the community, stated, “In light of the impending Navratri festival, ECG technicians, nursing staff, and other relevant personnel have undergone specialized training to provide immediate treatment to heart attack patients. Furthermore, additional staff will be on duty in the emergency department throughout the ten-day festival. Two senior resident doctors will be on standby and will promptly respond to any emergency situations that may arise.”
