Surat : The Consul General of Vietnam in India, Le Quang Bien, has expressed a firm commitment to participate in the Global Connect Mission 84 initiated by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI). The mission aims to bolster bilateral trade between India and Vietnam, fostering stronger economic ties and paving the way for global business expansion.
Consul General Le Quang Bien lauded the Mission 84 project by SGCCI as an innovative endeavor that transcends conventional approaches. He emphasized that entrepreneurs and businessmen associated with this project will reap benefits not only within India but also on a global scale.
Vietnam has identified a unique opportunity for collaboration with India. The Consul General highlighted that there are four to five marriage destinations in Vietnam where Indians are exempt from visa requirements. He expressed the need for a direct flight between Surat and Vietnam to facilitate easier travel.
Vietnam’s strategic location positions it as an ideal logistics partner for India, and the region has witnessed a surge in the influx of businessmen and tourists from India in recent times. Vietnam is swiftly becoming a sought-after destination for Indian tourists and destination weddings.
India is regarded as Vietnam’s most reliable business partner. The Consul General pointed out that Vietnam imports a variety of goods from India, including industrial machinery, pharmaceuticals, metals, minerals, and agricultural products. In return, India exports technological products such as mobile handsets. To underscore the potential for growth, he presented import-export statistics from the last four to five years.
Le Quang Bien expressed confidence in India’s rapid development, asserting that India is on track to become a five trillion US dollar economy by 2017. He noted that both India and Vietnam boast a young and dynamic entrepreneurial population, which can lead to excellent business synergy between the two nations.
Dinh Vinh Cuong, the president of the Vietnam International Entrepreneurs Networking Club, shared insights about his club’s significant reach, connecting over 7,000 entrepreneurs with business relations across various countries. Recognizing the potential for collaboration, an interactive meeting is set to be organized between the industrialists of Surat and Vietnamese businessmen, facilitating the exchange of various products and ideas. An important step toward this end was taken with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SGCCI and the Vietnam International Entrepreneurs Networking Club.
