Gujarat Assembly Goes Digital: State Budget on February 2

Gandhinagar: In a historic move, the Gujarat Legislative Assembly will shed its paper trails and embrace the digital age for its upcoming session starting February 1, 2024. This marks a significant shift from the traditional physical proceedings, with all MLAs equipped and ready to navigate the Assembly’s operations through a robust online platform.

“The fourth session of the Assembly will be entirely digital,” declared Shanker Chaudhary, Speaker of Gujarat Assembly. “We’ve invested in training our MLAs to ask starred questions online, engage in debates, and participate in proceedings seamlessly through this digital interface.”

The session promises to be a whirlwind of activity, packed with key events. The highly anticipated State Budget for 2024-25 will be presented on February 2nd, followed by four days of dedicated discussions and scrutiny. The Governor’s address will also be debated for three days, setting the stage for a vibrant exchange of ideas and perspectives.

With digitalization at its core, the session aims to streamline legislative processes and enhance transparency. “We’ve strived to make the majority of Assembly work accessible online during this session,” Chaudhary emphasized. “This move not only paves the way for a tech-savvy future but also fosters greater public engagement in the legislative process.”

The 29-day session will see dedicated time allotted for discussing the demands of various departments, ensuring comprehensive scrutiny and oversight. This digital transformation promises to usher in a new era for the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, one that prioritizes efficiency, transparency, and accessibility.
