Surat : SGCCI Seeks IFSCA Cover for Gujarat Exporters

Surat : The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) in Surat has called upon the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) to provide insurance facilities for exporters from Gujarat, mitigating risks they face after shipping goods abroad.

SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia addressed the issue at an IFSCA conference titled “The Role of IFSC in Export Credit and Export Credit Insurance” held at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (Gift City). He delved into ways to secure insurance for exporters and minimize their risk exposure in post-export scenarios.

Vaghasia further extended an invitation to IFSCA Chairman K. Rajaraman to visit Surat and guide industrialists, traders, and exporters in the region. Rajaraman warmly accepted the invitation, acknowledging the importance of supporting export potential in India.

The SGCCI President also requested IFSCA’s backing for SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84, an online international portal aiming to onboard exporters nationwide. Rajaraman responded positively, pledging to explore avenues for integrating exporters with the platform.

“The IFSCA conference brought together experts, industry leaders, bankers, and exporters from India and abroad,” Vaghasia remarked. “The discussions highlighted India’s emerging export potential and underscored the crucial role of credit and credit insurance for both established and new exporters.”

With IFSCA’s backing secured, SGCCI is optimistic about strengthening risk protection for Gujarat’s exporters and propelling Mission 84’s reach across the country, paving the way for a more robust and resilient export ecosystem.
